Hire terms, in plain English
There's nothing to sign. This page is the whole agreement, and we've written it the way we'd say it rather than the way a solicitor would.
Booking
A booking is confirmed when we send you an SMS saying it is. Until then the bikes aren't held for anybody, and we'll always tell you straight away if they're already out.
When you book, you're agreeing to what's on this page. We'll put the link in the message so nobody can say they never saw it.
What it costs
$35 for one day, $80 for three days, $110 for a week, per bike. Delivery, pick-up, a helmet and a lock are included. There's no bond, no booking fee and no charge for delivery anywhere in Kingscliff, Casuarina or Cabarita Beach.
Pay by PayID, or we'll send you a Square payment link, whichever suits. We'll send the details once we've confirmed your dates. We ask for payment before we drop the bikes off, which saves anybody counting out notes on a footpath.
Cancelling
Tell us before the day and there is nothing to pay. Tell us on the day and there's still nothing to pay, we'd just rather know so we can offer the bikes to somebody else.
Wet weather
If the forecast turns before we've delivered, we'll move your dates or refund you, whichever suits. Once the bikes are with you the hire runs, because a wet week here is usually a few wet hours and the bikes don't mind.
Damage and wear
Punctures, brake adjustments, a dropped chain and anything else that is normal wear are on us. Send us an SMS and we'll come out and sort it, or swap the bike if it's quicker.
If a bike comes back genuinely damaged, we'll show you the photo we took at drop-off, tell you what the repair costs, and ask you to cover it. We're not going to charge you for a scratch.
If a bike is stolen
We give you a lock and we ask you to use it. If a locked bike is taken, that's bad luck and we'll sort it out between us. If an unlocked bike is taken, we'll ask you to replace it, and a cruiser costs about $600.
Helmets and the law
Helmets are compulsory for cyclists everywhere in Australia, at every age, including on shared paths, and they have to meet the Australian standard. Ours do. One comes with every bike, sanitised between hires. Please wear it. We're not going to follow you around checking, but the fine is real and it costs more than the hire does.
Who can ride
The two cruisers are adult size and a rider needs to be around 155cm to be safe on one. The smaller bikes suit younger riders, so tell us ages and rough heights and we'll match them properly. Young children need an adult riding with them. If you're hiring for somebody under eighteen, the adult who booked is the one we deal with.
Insurance
We carry public liability insurance for the hire business. It doesn't cover your own belongings and it isn't a substitute for your own health or travel cover, but the business itself is insured.
Riding is at your own risk
We check every bike before it goes out and we'll fix anything that's wrong with it. What we can't do is ride it for you. Once a bike is with you, how it gets ridden and where is up to you, and you're responsible for yourself and anybody else you let ride it.
If something on the bike doesn't feel right, stop riding it and message us. We'd much rather come out and look at it than have you push on and hope.
Common sense
Ride on the path, keep left, use the bell, don't ride at night without lights and don't go in the water with the bike. We've never had to say any of this to anybody, and we'd like to keep it that way.
Any of that unclear?
Send us an SMS and ask. We would much rather explain it now than argue about it later.
